Annual General Meeting

05/10/2009

The 13th Annual General Meeting was held in the Rural College Draperstown on Monday night, 5th October 2009 with Brendan Adams in the chair.

The following were the main points of Brendan's review of the past year:

  • Grade 3 walks continue to be well attended. The Grade 1 walks, however, were not so well supported.  The inclement weather for most of the year may have been a factor.
  • While walks in the past year were restricted to the Sperrins we should reconsider this policy in the incoming year.
  • The weekend away was in the Mournes and once again was very successfl with walks over two days.
  • We had a joint walk with the Foyle Ramblers which proved very enjoyable and could pave the way for other joint walks in the future.
  • We had a training day with North West Mountain Rescue.  There were to be other sessions but these never came to fruition.
  • Are we communicating satisfactorily with our members? Any comments or suggestions will be welcomed.
  • It is intended to provide training in the use of GPS.  Any views on training would be welcomed.

Brendan paid tribute to the leaders on whom the success of the walks depended.

Liz Cullen as secretary reported that the membership during the 2008/09 year was 45 while treasurer Patricia Hasson reported on a very healthy bank balance which will allow us to retain the current level of subscription at £30 for an individual member and £18 for senior citizens and students.

As is required under the Constitution of the Club an election of Chairman and committee took place under the temporary chairmanship of Paul Davies.
